Main Applications:

1. Raw Material in Making Modified and Cationic Polyacrylamides: For example, if anionic PAM is needed, one can choose the right kind of nonionic PAM as raw material as required for a specific application, then hydrolyze it. Also, cationic PAM can be obtained from the Manich reaction of nonionic PAM.

2. An Auxiliary Chemical in the Textile Industry: PAM-4 is most commonly used for this application. It is mixed with other chemicals to form textile sizing material. It can also help the textile be anti-static, use less sizing material, reduce twisting, sizing stain, and broken ends. For some textiles, PAM-6 can be directly used as a sizing material.

3. Waste Water Treatment: When the waste water contains an acidic suspension, nonionic PAM is the suitable flocculant. PAM-1 is recommended in this case do to the adsorption and bridging effects of this polymer. It will flocculate and settle the suspended solids, thus clarify the waste water. It can be used in the clarification of raw water. It is non-toxic. If it is used in association with inorganic flocculant, better results may be obtained.

4. Water Blocking Agent in Dikes, Foundations, and Tunnels: If 9.5 parts of nonionic PAM is mixed with 0.5 parts of N, N' -methylene-diacrylamide, a chemical cementing material is formed that can prevent water flow.
